The dog got his morning walk, the house got some much needed TLC & I remembered I was hankering for some kind of oaty breakfast.
Now I don’t know about you, but I am all about food that is quick, easy & tasty. We’ve all heard of ‘overnight oats’ right? This is one of several different variations of just that…
Those mornings when you don’t feel like eating a heavy, hearty meal first thing, overnight oats give you all the protein, carbs & fats to get your day started & keep you feeling full (minus the bloat). There are so many different variations of these depending on your mood & macro needs.
This morning just so happened to have some storm clouds rolling in & thunder in the distance. One of those mornings you yearn to climb back into bed, so naturally I whipped up these oats, left them in the fridge for 2 hours & retrieved them just in time for me to grab a spoon & tuck myself back in bed.
Todays version of overnight proats:
- 1/2 cup quaker oats
- 1 scoop Quest unflavored protein
- 2 heaping tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp Splenda + 1 tbsp brown sugar Splenda (I like my sweets)
- 1/2 cup fat free milk
- splash of vanilla
- splash of lower sugar maple syrup
Mix well & add a good bit of water (the chia seeds will soak up & absorb most of the liquid–which makes it thick & delicious!)
You can add cinnamon, peanut butter, cocoa powder, flax seeds, any flavored protein! Leave a comment & let me know some of your favorite versions of overnight oats!
